Bellingham
Our home base. Older housing stock, a lot of homes without usable ductwork, and the highest concentration of ductless and hybrid installs we do.
We install heating and cooling from the waterfront to the foothills. The house you have decides what we recommend, and the houses vary a lot across this county.

Whatcom County packs an unusual amount of variety into a small area. A 1920s bungalow in central Bellingham with no original ductwork has almost nothing in common with a 2005 build in Ferndale, and neither resembles a place above Lake Whatcom on a wooded lot with a long driveway and a panel that has not been touched since it was built.
That variety is why we do not quote from square footage. What works beautifully in one part of this county is the wrong recommendation ten minutes away.

Newer subdivisions alongside older properties out toward the river. Mostly straightforward ducted changeouts, which makes it good heat pump territory.

Farm country up on the border. Larger homes, longer duct runs, more propane and electric heat, and properties where the electrical panel needs checking before anything else.

Coastal and exposed. Salt air is genuinely hard on outdoor equipment, which affects what we recommend and where we site the unit.

Wooded lots above Lake Whatcom. Plenty of homes here were built without central heating, which makes this strong ductless territory.
Siting an outdoor unit in Birch Bay is a different decision from siting one in Sudden Valley. Salt air corrodes coils, so coastal installs need more thought about placement and protection. Wooded properties bring debris, shade and sometimes a long run back to the panel.
Then there is the electrical question, which decides more heat pump quotes than the equipment does. Older rural properties in the north and east of the county frequently do not have the panel capacity for a heat pump without an upgrade, and that upgrade is a significant line item. We check it during the assessment because finding out later is the single most common way one of these projects goes badly.
None of that is visible from a map. It comes from working the whole county rather than a radius around one office.
We cover the communities between these towns as well. If you are in Whatcom County it is worth a phone call.
