How we quote
We Measure the House Before We Pick the Equipment
There is a fast way to quote a heating system and a correct way. The fast way is to look at the square footage, glance at what is already there, and quote something a similar size. It takes about twenty minutes and it is how a great many quotes in this county get produced.
The correct way takes an hour or more. We measure the rooms, look at the glazing and which way it faces, assess the insulation and the air sealing, check whether your ductwork can actually carry the airflow the new system needs, and look inside your electrical panel. That produces a real heating and cooling load, and the load picks the equipment.
It matters because oversizing is the most common fault in this trade and it is invisible until you live with it. An oversized system short cycles, wears out early, cools without dehumidifying, and leaves you with a house that never feels quite right despite everything being brand new.

We get asked this on nearly every visit, so here it is on the homepage. A modern heat pump will heat a Bellingham home through a normal winter. Our climate is mild and wet rather than genuinely cold, which makes it one of the better places in the country for the technology.
The bad reputation comes from two real things: older equipment that genuinely did struggle in the cold, and poor sizing, which is still common and produces a system that runs constantly and never quite satisfies. Neither is an argument against heat pumps. Both are arguments for caring who installs it.
